Farrar, Straus and Giroux was founded in 1946
by Roger W. Straus. The firm is renowned for its international list of
literary fiction, nonfiction, poetry and children’s books.
Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers
publishes books for toddlers through young adults and offers softcovers
under the Sunburst Paperback imprint and Spanish language editions of
selected titles under the Mirasol/libros juveniles imprint. The company
has an award-winning backlist that continues to expand, in part due to
the recent additions of Frances Foster Books and Melanie Kroupa Books. A
number of the talents with whom the company has worked, including
Natalie Babbitt (Tuck Everlasting), Madeleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in
Time), Uri Shulevitz (The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship), and
William Steig (Doctor De Soto), have become recognized as creators of
classic children's books. A new generation includes Jack Gantos (Joey
Pigza Loses Control), Louis Sachar (Holes), Peter Sís (Starry
Messenger), and husband-and-wife collaborators David Small and Sarah
Stewart (The Gardener).
